At Emmaus, we offer a range of in school and out of school sporting opportunities. These include our participation in SAPSASA, School Sport SA and SACPSSA sports and carnivals as well as local sporting competitions. 

SAPSASA: ONKAPARINGA NORTH
Emmaus Catholic School is situated within the SAPSASA Onkaparinga North district. There are many inter-district carnivals and competitions in which we send teams to compete as well as come and try days for various sports. 

Onkaparinga North also enters teams into SAPSASA District Carnivals, in which a team is selected from students across the district to represent the Onkaparinga North District. Sports for which carnivals are held include: Softball, Swimming, Football, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Cricket and more. 

SAPSASA Onkaparinga North teams are selected mainly from years 5 & 6. Year 4 students can be selected for some carnivals.

SACPSSA Carnivals

SACPSSA is the states body for catholic primary school sports. At Emmaus, all students in years 4, 5 and 6 compete in the netball and touch footy SACPSSA carnivals. We also have teams competing in the Swimming, basketball, cross country and athletics carnivals. 

Statewide Knockout Competitions

Statewide knockout sporting competitions are available for students in years 5 & 6. these competitions occur during school time, with the winning team from each round progressing to the next round. knockout competitions that Emmaus currently compete in are Cricket, Soccer, Netball and Basketball. 

Out of School Sports

Soccer:

At Emmaus we have a large participation in the local Saturday morning school Soccer competition. Out of School Soccer is accessible for students from reception to year 6. Trainings are held weekly after school by volunteer coaches and games are played on Saturday mornings at local schools. Out of School Soccer competitions are played in terms 2 and 3. 

Netball:

We also have netball teams that play in the local after school competition at the Southern United Netball Association (SUNA). Netball teams have weekly trainings with volunteer coaches and play games weekly on Tuesday nights during terms 2 and 3. students from year 2 to year 6 can play in Out of School Netball teams. 

Basketball:

Out of School Basketball is available for students from reception to year 6. Emmaus competes in competitions held at the Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium, where games are played weekly. Basketball is available to students year round. 

Cricket:

Out of school Cricket is played in terms 1 and 4. Students from year 2 & 3 can compete in Blast style games with modified rules and playing equipment, these games are all played at Happy valley Oval. Students in years 4, 5 and 6 compete against local schools on larger pitches, using protective equipment and harder balls. 

The aim for our Out of School Sports programs at Emmaus is for students to have fun whilst learning the important values involved in playing a team sport. Enjoyment and fair play are values that we seek and instill in our sporting students.
